In Season at TCMoFA's Permanent Collection
Thurston County Museum of Fine Arts, Olympia, WA
August 2025-December 2025

Picture

“In Season” is a collection of naturally dyed textiles created with plants gathered from my garden and nearby landscapes. These pieces reflect my seasonal practice of growing or foraging dye plants and experimenting with techniques like ecoprinting—a process where flowers and leaves are steamed onto fabric, leaving behind natural pigments in their delicate forms.

Through hand stitching and quilting, I layer textures and explore colors—each piece shaped by the plant, the season, and the process.

Olympia Craft Club x TCMoFA

Olympia Craft Club partnered with Thurston County Museum of Fine Arts (I help organize both, so it was an easy partnership!). We created an "instant art show" where craft club and other community members brought their artwork, hung it on the museum walls, had a reception, and then took down their art - all within the two hours of our normal craft club time. There were a range of mediums - think large quilts, amazing knits, tiny miniatures, and even sourdough bread. We even had Frederick Dobler on the typewriter creating custom title cards. The turnout was great - we had over 20 artist participate and over 75 guests. I showed my cute linen & silk cross stitch titled "Baby Bug Ball". My mom started it in the 90's and I finished it for her for Christmas and had it framed before the show! You can find more photos of the show on the tcmofa.org website.

Capturing Summer
Bar Francis, Olympia, WA
September 2023

Capturing Summer was shown in September 2023 at Bar Francis in Olympia, WA. This was a collection of my recent studies in natural dye. Each summer, I grow a small garden of plants used for creating dyes - including coreopsis, marigold, cosmos, and indigo. Most of the natural dyes used in this show were from my garden and from locally foraged plants.

I used hand-stitching techniques to create many of the unique patterns seen on these fabrics. I captured the shapes of my summer garden flowers through a method known as ‘ecoprinting’ in which plants are steamed onto fabric. Natural dyeing is not only a means of expression, but also the intersection of art, botany, and chemistry.

"Our Friendship Quilt" was created by Amelia Wrede Davis, Isabel Yasui, Kirsten Miller, and Richelle Selig in 2022.
I showed two pieces at the Fall Arts Walk show at the Thurston County Museum of Fine Arts (TCMoFA). I also helped create and organize the museum itself! This was the first TCMoFA event, which kicked off of series of museum events that have continued to grow over the past few years.
