Collaborations
Friendship Quilt
"Our Friendship Quilt" was made by myself, Amelia Wrede Davis, Isabel Yasui, and Richelle Selig, who found each other during the beginning of the pandemic through a shared love for quilting and fiber work. After seeing the Cross River Album Quilt by Mrs. Eldad Miller and others (1861) on display at the Natural History Museum in Tacoma, WA, we were moved to make our own version inspired by the abundance of spring.
Each of the 16 squares were made using different combinations of five colors on a white background. Techniques used were hand applique and embroidery for each square, machine sewing to attached squares, hand stitching for quilting, and then finished with machine and hand stitched binding. |
Matching Jackets
Kelsey Magnuson and I met in Olympia, WA through our love of fiber arts. Kelsey is a weaver and is currently doing a residency at Arbutus Folk School. I've made the Ilford Jacket pattern by Friday Pattern Company a handful of times, so we did a sew-along that featured some of her handwoven material on the pockets and collar. I love a good new friendship collaboration!
